If you fail to take a stand on this issue, demand answers and hold people accountable, you have no right to criticise the Education Department again -- a Department more intent on 'shooting the messenger' than addressing life-threatening issues of health and safety in remote Indigenous schools. If not this issue – what issue?
The real question is: does anyone really care? We have made our contribution with this website, exposing how DET blacklisted us after raising life-threatening duty of care issues. Don't do it for us, but for yourselves and your students who deserve better. The next time it may be you. We ask you to heed these words:
They came first for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.
